Define logical interfaces in HiCAD

In this video, you will learn how to use the LogiKal interface from ORGADATA correctly in HiCAD. This interface is required to integrate façade construction profiles into HiCAD. Please note that you need both a HiCAD licence and an interface licence from ORGADATA, which you can purchase from your sales partners.

If you already have these licenses, you only need to enter the path to the LogiKal installation in HiCAD.

  1. Customize the Windows user rights: You can adjust your Windows user rights to enter the required path. This may require administrator rights and can be carried out by your IT administrator.
  2. Direct entry of the path in the registration: An alternative method is to enter the path directly in the Windows registry to bypass the adjustment of user rights. To do this, open the registry editor and enter the path to the LogiKal installation, as shown in the image.

Please note that changes to the Windows registry require caution as they can affect the system. Make sure you are working with the required permissions or get support from an IT expert to ensure this is done properly.

Install logical profile

In this video I will demonstrate how you can integrate façade profiles into your construction. Please note that these profiles are only available if you have installed the LogiKal interface. There are basically three ways to install profiles.

  • As a complete facade profile (post or transom)
  • As a single profile
  • Or as a window / door profile

Install Logikal façade with grid

You can use this function to enter a facade in the same way as in the logic and this is immediately in HiCAD when the function is completed and of course in the logic as well.

Install Logikal façade with a sketch

A sketch allows you to quickly create complex façade structures, which are then assigned profiles in LogiKal. The façade created is immediately available in both HiCAD and LogiKal.

Please note, however, that size changes can only be made in HiCAD.

Import facade from Logikal

If you have already created a façade in LogiKal, you can use this function to transfer it to HiCAD. This façade naturally remains linked to LogiKal, and changes can be adopted by both HiCAD and LogiKal.

The settings for the interface, which determine when changes are adopted by LogiKal, can be adjusted in the configuration editor.

Changing the facade grid with Logic

Transfer processing from HICAD to Logikal

If edits have been added in HiCAD, these can be transferred to LogiKal, provided they are standard edits that LogiKal recognizes.

The standard processing operations recognized by LogiKal include holes, slotted holes and rectangular pockets. With rectangular pockets, however, it is important to note that these are normally produced with a milling cutter, so they must also have rounded corners.

Adopt 2D view from Logikal

For a better presentation of the façade for customers or architects, you can also transfer 2D views and sections from LogiKal. This is useful if you need lever handles and fittings in the 2D view for the presentation.

Of course, this can also be done on average.

Installation of insulation in a section

The insulation has been split into three separate commands to enable faster generation. The hatching has also been revised to comply with current technical standards.

The dialog has of course been adapted to the current HiCAD standard.

As requested by many customers for a long time, the representation of the insulation was corrected.

Attach metal clip to the façade

With the new design variant, you now have the option of connecting a sheet metal clip to one or more profiles with a connecting part. This allows you to easily attach sheet metal parts to a façade mullion, for example.

Extract detail section

If you are working with Logikal façade profiles, you then have the option of notching these profiles using the existing Logikal notches.

Representation of height coefficients in the dimensions

In many areas, especially in façade construction, it is often necessary to set height coordinates in the floor plan. To do this, you can subsequently change the display of the height coordinates or save them as a favorite to make this easy.

In the dimension settings dialog, you can easily change the symbol.

Contour search when installing insulation

This example shows the extension of the contour search when installing insulation and general building materials in HiCAD 2021 SP1.

Correctly installing general building materials such as concrete

The general building materials in HiCAD are a comprehensive collection of different materials, including concrete walls, fire protection boards, plastics and more.

Sie sind in den Andockfenstern unter “Bauwesen Allgemein” zu finden und ermöglichen das schnelle Einsetzen dieser Werkstoffe sowohl im Schnitt als auch im 3D-Modell.

The general parts can be inserted into HiCAD either by material or as usual using semi-finished products. This allows different materials to be inserted and adapted quickly and easily.

How to draw a façade detail

This video shows how easy it is to model a façade detail in HiCAD.

Automatic installation of a façade panel

Service Pack 2 for HiCAD 2025 provides a new design variant for panels that offers significantly more design flexibility. In our video, we show how panels with mitre joints, insulation, thermal break and screw connections can be individually designed - efficiently and practically.
