When exporting a profile to an NCX file, it is always very important how the profile is aligned. By default, the top view (the blue arrow) always determines the alignment for each profile.
This symbol can be switched on and off in the status bar below and the following icon.
The orientation of profiles that are included in the HiCAD standard catalog is fixed and cannot be changed.
However, if you store your own profile in the catalogue, you have the option of defining this orientation. This happens with how the profile is stored in the construction.
However, there is also a way to change this direction. This gives you the option to change the orientation for the output in NCX.
It is important that currently (up to 2702) the alignment only works for 0 and 180 degrees.
In HiCAD 2023 it is also possible to define 0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees. The note always changes in view. This means that you can also completely define the orientation later and possibly even store it in the catalog for standard profiles.

Here I would like to show how you can store this setting in Hicad. You need to know the following. There is a standard HiCAD attribute that controls this. This can be found in the CATEDITOR under system settings.
So this attribute only has to be in the parts attributes masks for the profiles and the profile main parts. These 2 masks basically look the same, but are used once for normal profiles and for profiles in an assembly that have the main part identifier. Therefore you have to adapt both files.
First you have to look for the following files in the HiCAD SYS folder and open them with an editor.
In the editor, these 2 files then look like this.
Now only the line inserted below has to be copied into this file at the end.

In order to transfer the position numbers or position texts to Elucad or other CAM systems and thus to ensure better further processing, you can transfer the position texts. To do this, however, you have to make an entry in the registry.
The first step is to start the registry editor and navigate to the section shown in the image below. Make sure that you check which HiCAD version you have. This function has been available since HiCAD 2020.
Now you have to create the entry which activates the output. This entry you are also back in the picture. Either copy the text or pay close attention to the spelling.

It is important that only the position text is transferred to the comment from Elucad. The position texts must therefore be switched on in HiCAD when searching for identical parts and possibly adapted to the desired form.
After the handover to Elucad, the whole thing looks like this there. Which is extremely helpful for further post-processing.

Then it is possible to optimize the bar in Elucad with just a few clicks. However, the respective user of Elucad should know this afterwards, since the bar lengths (semi-finished product lengths) or span widths must also be stored.
