HiCAD 2023 – SP2
New development profile installation
The time has finally come, the work for the new profile installation has reached the first step which was necessary so that it is also applicable and can therefore be used.
A few more steps are being considered and will be delivered in the future versions as soon as the respective extensions are ready.
A preview and a simple change of the reference points have been added and the profiles can thus be installed much more intuitively. You can also see immediately which profile you have selected in the dialog.

Automatic data backup with more performance
With automatic data backup, the polygon models of parts are no longer saved from SP2, but are only recalculated when a construction is restored. This ensures better performance in automatic data backup for designs with many parts.
You only notice the difference when you load a construction, which then has to reload the model and this can take a little longer here.

ICN structure display with grid lines
In order to clarify the levels of the part structure, grid lines can be displayed from SP2 onwards. The ICN settings have been expanded accordingly for this
You can set these as follows. This provides a better overview of the parts structure.
Without the grid lines, clarity is much more difficult and for this reason I would recommend you to set this display as well.

Extended functionality for editing layers
When laying out the editing plane, there is now the option of laying the editing plane perpendicular to the screen plane.
This can be used specifically to make it much easier to place screws in the cut. As you can see in the picture here, if you place the working plane correctly, then the screw will also be placed correctly in the section.

coating
Coating has been completely revised so that now, as you can see in the picture, you can coat a wide variety of parts in HiCAD with one click. The coating of profiles was also added in this step.
It is important to know that, as you can see in the picture, there is a turn symbol in the middle of each part, with which you can easily turn the coated side.

Cams and cam processing
A cam connection is created between a donor and a female part. The donor receives the cams and the receiving part receives the machinings that these cams fit into.
These functions can either be selected with the RMB on all parts.
Or otherwise via the ribbon.
Of course, this results in an extremely large number of new possibilities for expanding the design method and thus also optimizing the manufacturing process.

Extensions in the aluminum standard profiles catalog (FLUTZ – profiles)
In the area of the FLUTZ profiles (FLUTZ is the designation for aluminum standard profiles. Flat bars, angles, Uprofiles, T-profiles, Z-profiles) have now also been expanded to include aluminum tubes so that they are available to you.
You can find these profiles in the standard profile installation dialog. During installation, you should possibly pay attention to the fact that the different materials are included here and that these should be selected via the material.
In the picture you can also see that I have adjusted the parameters in the catalogue, i.e. the representation of which column I have adapted for the dialogs during installation. That's why I see the BZ column in the dialog here.

Integration Spacemouse
Mit Service Pack 2 wird das neuste SDK von 3Dconnexion unterstützt. Dadurch können alle Geräte, die von der 3DxWare 10 unterstützt werden, vollumfänglich in HiCAD verwendet werden. Die neue Ermittlung des Drehpunkts erleichtert zusätzlich das Arbeiten mit der SpaceMouse.
