Overview catalogue
When purchasing HiCAD, you will also be provided with corresponding standard parts catalogs, depending on the product purchased. These are located in the CATALOGS folder, a subdirectory of the HiCAD program folder. This folder contains all standard parts, sheets, profiles, standard processing, etc. delivered with HiCAD. The folder is divided into various subdirectories for the various groups of standard parts, e.g. B. CONNECTING ELEMENTS (screws, nuts, etc.) or SEMI-PRODUCTS (profiles, sheets, gratings). You may only need certain of these standard parts or you may be missing standard parts of certain dimensions. The catalog editor is available to solve such cases.

Place catalog on server
In this video I will show you how to put the catalog on the server. In the case of a large number of users, where the path says “no authorization”. This comes from the rights you have on the computer (Windows setting). This is now the case with almost every Windows 10 user.
Of course, I forgot a way to get the catalog on the server, because I was only made aware of this way after the video. But this way is probably also the easiest.
To do this, go to the following point in the catalog directly in the catalog and there you can easily specify the target directory. If the catalog is started as admin, the registration is also rewritten.
However, it is always important that the user who is to update the catalog also has access to the server's drive when updating.

parameters

The parameter controls the HiCAD dialogs so that you can see which values are entered in the catalog. This makes it easier to see during installation which profile is being installed and which values are behind it. So you can set that 2 or more columns are visible.

sorting sizes

Sorting sizes are, as the name suggests, the columns that have to be sorted in the catalog. TYPE which is also the value which can be seen below (design / material) in the dialogs must be set as a sorting criterion, otherwise a table containing this column cannot be saved.

Replace text area

Here I explain which designation is transferred from the catalog to which attribute. This means that you can expand your catalog further and adapt it to the needs of your own company.

Assign material color

In order to work more clearly in HiCAD with different materials, I always change the color of the respective material. This also gives you a simple check that you have assigned the correct material.
